Tried to get the oatmeal going in the morning but for some reason it didn't want to light so off I went to find a breakfast place. Wasn't really planning on cooking much once on the coast since seafood was all i wanted and tired of the crap that I was cooking for myself.
Found a great little place close by with great coffee. Again, said hello or good morning to a few folks, and got talking about the trip and hours later I was finally on my way. It has just been too perfect meeting the most wonderful people asking so many questions and keenly interested in what it's been like to spend 5 weeks of my life on a simple bicycle. One couple gave me the greatest idea to have this blog turned into a hardcover little book. I can get published! Would be fun to read sometime later.

The 101 up the coast has been OK but lots of traffic and all my favorite RVs came following. Just north of Lincoln City, my map directed me off the 101 to hit the old 101 for 10 miles. This was an unbelievable stretch with virtually no traffic and old growth forests.
Back on the regular 101, went a few more miles to the town of Neskowin. One place to eat in town and guess what I ate...seafood and a microbrew!
Once in Pacific City, I figured I might as well see if I can get on a chartered fishing boat tomorrow. There happened to be one that was a Dory. Apparently, this little town is one of the last remaining places that uses such boats and have been in use on the Oregon Coast for a 100 years. Wooden boats that have flat bottoms and they are beached to bring them in after a day on the ocean.
Stayed in the campground in town, needing a shower pretty badly and a great one it was! Felt like cooking actually and went to the little market after I fixed my stove. Looking at all the crab on display I really wished I could boil them only to have a lady tell me that they are already cooked and all I need was a way to crack the shells. Thank God for Neil's Leatherman!
The kind lady set up me with a good size crab, half a stick of butter, some lemon, smoked salmon and some teriyaki smoked salmon. This was going to be one hell of a sweet meal!
Walked across the street to the Pelican Brewery that everyone told me to try. Sat outside on the beach, ordered some coffee since I couldn't get warm in this place! To my exitement, they had 22oz of their brews t go! NOW WE'RE TALKING!
View from behind the parking lot of the brewery.
Met some other distance bikers while I was eating. Father and son who were heading down the coast for about a week. Went back to the beach with them after dinner to try and catch another sunset.
Fishing tomorrow and had to be up at 4am! Ouch
