7/11 Sweethome, OR-Newport, OR 91 miles

MADE IT TO THE PACIFIC IN EXACTLY 4 WEEKS FROM TODAY!

Damn, how sweet it was when I rolled over the last hill to see the Pacific in all it's glory in front of me! Just rolled into Newport about an hour ago after a another long and hot day on the road. My shortcut wasn't all that great since it involved pedaling on a 4 lane highway for some of it. Luckily, had broad shoulders.

So for the next 5 days I plan on crawling up the coast needing no more than 25 miles to reach the top of Oregon in Astoria where Doug and I were planning on meeting and riding the rest of the way to Seattle. As it turns out, Doug, the always intelligent one went out and broke his toe so we'll see if I am riding solo to Seattle.

No pics today, sorry folks, didn't feel like anything was deserving of me to stop and I was in a hurry to get to the ocean!

Now off for crab and a shower! maybe an Oregon microbrew with some locals who are just dying to meet me and talk to me!

By the way, it is cold here! They say highs in the 60's! Might have to buy some wool in town.

Hey Shaun,

Glad to see you made it in to Newport and the coast. Enjoy your trip North and the cool coastal weather. The coast will treat you right. Don't forget, the Bayhaven in Newport and the Pelican Brewery in Pacific City!

Loving all the updates and the pictures, keep 'em coming!

What an amazing trip. The kind of trip that changes your perspective and makes our 80 miles last summer in ND look like childs play!

I'm sure Estes Park seems like a long time ago, with all the adventure and travels since. Congrats on making it to the Pacific and enjoy the ride into Seattle!
